Through a compendium of interdisciplinary and time-based means my studio work attempts to embrace the empathy, emotion and memory of the human condition as defined within the realm of all things 'technologic'. These kinetic works morph into disarticulated narratives that attempt to recall upon direct and personal experiences, as image and sound metamorphoses into a new digital consciousness. These new time-based investigations attempt to breakdown, reorganize and re-articulate hundreds of hours of family videos and captured moments taunting, and testing them to offer a deeper, more poetic examination of self and family. Memory is frequently called to question as ever-changing moments seems to magically transition from one to another.
Often these kinetic works become emotionally charged manifestations as the audience is challenged through my own sense of otherness, personal weaknesses and a lack of understanding to continue learn, juxtapose and explore. Within the realm of my studio practicum, I see myself in a visual playground that exists between disciplines - rather than in just one.
These layered and combined efforts in the studio forge into a unique hybridization that has developed within the interdisciplinary realm of my collectivetime-based works. Regardless of the oncoming advancements to be seen within the larger scope of technology, what is certain within my work is that the compass needle has always pointed in the same direction. A bearing that is guided by memory, experience, and empathy, it attempts to set an azimuth in pursuit of something emotive, something personal, and something truly human.
